Last weekend I had the opportunity to travel once more back to Bacolod from Iloilo via RORO (Roll-on Roll-off) at the Dumangas Port after we missed the last trip of Supercat in the city. Dumangas Port is located at Sitio Nalu-oyan in Barangay Sapao  which is located 24 kilometers from Iloilo City in the town of Dumangas. Travel time from Iloilo City to Dumangas Port takes around 30 minutes by van or jeepney. If you are planning to travel via RoRo from Iloilo to Bacolod and vice versa, this post can help you prepare for your trip.

From Iloilo city, you may take a jeepney at Tagbak Terminal in Jaro heading to the town of Dumangas. Another option is to ride an airconditioned van at the Baldoza terminal in La Paz. The fare is around 60 pesos per person for a 30-minute ride going to Dumangas town. The last trip from the city is around 5-7pm. You can tell the driver to drop you off at the crossing going to Dumangas Port at Brgy. Nalu-uyan and take a 20-minute tricycle going to the seaport which is around 4-5 kms away from the town but be aware that the road going there is unpaved making it bumpy, dusty and muddy during rainy months. The ride cost about 25 pesos per person. If have plenty of cash to spare or you are traveling at night, you may contract a taxi from the city to get you right at the terminal. Their usual tariff for a trip is around 1000 pesos but we asked for a discount and able to lower the price for 650. This is gonna be a good deal if you are traveling in groups with a lot of luggages with you.

ARCHIE’s NOTES: A friend told me that you can also look for a cab at Jaro Plaza or at Tagbak terminal heading there and they can give you a good price. My friend paid 300 php for one way trip because the driver is also about to go home there.

Here are some photos I took of the newly opened Dumangas Port during our brief stopover there.

There are presently four shipping lines that operates Bacolod-Dumangas VV route namely Montenegro Shipping, Tristar Megalink, Lakbayan and Millenium Shipping. The fare and travel time varies depending on the shipping company. The usual travel time is about 1.5 to 2.5 hours. The fare is around 50-100 pesos plus 30 pesos terminal fee. Refer to the list below for the exact time of schedules and fare matrix. As of this writing, the schedules & fares are correct for the time being taken form the ticketing booth at Port of Dumangas but are subject to change without prior notice as per shipping lines policy.

ARCHIE’s NOTES: A faster but more expensive alternative to travel between islands is to ride fast craft (Super Cat, Ocean Jet or Weesam Express) at the new seaport in Lapuz, Iloilo City. Will write a separate article about in the coming days.

    1. I'm not sure about how much, but I believe pets have to be carried in proper travel crates to be allowed on board.

  3. Hi. just want to seek for suggestions. My friends and I were planning to visit Iloilo on May, and were heading to Tagbak Terminal. Is it way too far if we take roro or it is better to take fast craft instead?

    1. Too far means different things to different people. If you want convenience, take the fast craft, since the pier is right inside iloilo city. but the fares are around P200-300. If price is important, via Dumangas is less expensive, plus they have night trips.

    2. Hi there!
From Tagbak terminal to the RORO port in Dumangas you will have to travel around 1-2 hrs that includes 2 transfers.
You can also go to Lapuz Terminal and take a van from there going directly to Dumangas for 50 php, then take tricycle going to the port.
You can also try taking private taxi for fix rate (500-600) depends on how you haggle- 15-30 minutes travel time via coastal road. This is feasible if youre traveling in a group.
Taking fastcraft if youre coming from Iloilo is a much better option if you intend to save time.

    1. Sorry for the delayed reply Tony.
If you arrived 6pm in Iloilo alot 30mins to 1 hr travel (busy hours(+) from the airport to the city. Last trip from Iloilo fastcraft going to Bacolod is 5pm. You might want to try your luck catching the last trip of Fastcat (RORO from Iloilo) which is 8pm otherwise just go to Dumangas port where RORO operates 24hrs. Hope this helps ;)

  8. Good day to you sir. We are from Dumaguete Neg. Or. And we are planning to travel to san jose de buenavista, antique. I would like to know if the dumangas port is the nearest port(if there are other ports) to the place we are planning to go to? And how much would it cost us for a roundtrip ferry ride with a small car? Coz this is the first time we are going to this place and driving there. Hopefully you can help us on this one sir. Thank you very much.
